Activities, Events, and Programs

OCCOA offers activities, events, and programs throughout the year and all over Otsego County - including the annual holiday dinners at the Gaylord Meal Site, Young at Heart exercise classes at the PowerHouse Gym, Saturday pizza parties, and regular ice cream socials. Shopping Tuesdays allow older adults to be transported from several senior housing complexes to major shopping areas in Gaylord via the Otsego County Bus System. Game enthusiasts can play Xbox 360 Kinect at the Gaylord Meal Site.

During the summer, older adults can travel to a Tiger baseball game. They can also participate in such annual events as the Irish luncheon, the All American Luncheon, the Thanksgiving Luncheon, and the Christmas Luncheon.

The agency also sponsors several programs that focus on Healthy Aging. The Walk Michigan Group meets every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at various locations and the Matter of Balance Program helps older adults manage falls and increase activity levels. Chair Yoga class sessions are periodically held at Yoga~45 Studio to help older adults increase their flexibility, strength, and stamina.

The annual Tigers trips to Comerica Park
in Detroit are favorites!

The OCCOA is a sponsor of Walk Michigan - a Healthy Aging Activity.

Cleanings and adjustments for eye glasses are offered on a regular basis at all the meal sites. Footcare clinics are available at the Gaylord Meal Site.  A variety of games and fellowship are offered at the meal sites in Gaylord and Johannesburg.  No matter what your interest or need, OCCOA has something for everyone!

A monthly Activities Calendar listing activities and special events sponsored by OCCOA, is available on this website, at the business office, and all the meal sites.

When we give ourselves something to look forward to, no matter how great or small the event, we are giving ourselves the gift of hope. And where theres hope built into tomorrow, there are all kinds of possibilities for overcoming whatever obstacle we face today.
