Frequently Asked Questions
Are participants required to pay membership fees?
No. The OCCOA funds these presentations and provides a paid coordinator, as well as the use of the presentation facilities and equipment.
How often does the group meet?
The group meets on the first Tuesday of the month from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the University Center at Gaylord, unless otherwise noted.
Who can join?
The group is open to older adults, age 55 or older, who live in Otsego County.
Are volunteer opportunities available?
Yes! The group is always in need of volunteers who can help expand the OCCOA peer/tutor base. Adult volunteers (age 55 or older) who have solid computer skills (software and/or hardware) can provide great one-on-one support for participants with special needs. Volunteers should enjoy working with older adults, have patience, compassion, and good listening skills. To be considered for a volunteer position, please complete a Volunteer Registration packet and submit it to the OCCOA Volunteer Coordinator as instructed.
